I’m sure it has been a busy week for all of us as we see “our worlds” fully back in motion following the summer. Many of our Ministries that were quiet over the summer are off to a wonderful start. While most of our focus is on our mission, I want to mention some upcoming activities that are inspired to bring our community together and provide both some educational and totally fun activities for our Parish Community.
This Friday, September 29, 2023 we will host an event called Lifelong Westfield Senior Fair, sponsored by Lifelong Westfield, an initiative of the Mayor’s Senior Advisory Council. The Senior Fair will be held in our Parish Center from 10:00 A.M. to noon. Come early, doors open at 9:30 , for coffee and bagels.
The fair provides an opportunity for our seniors to learn more about various services as well as volunteer and recreational activities that they can enjoy here in town. There will be about 30 local organizations participating in this free event.
Also coming up next weekend on Saturday, September 30th at 7:00 P.M. we have the Carol’s Kings Concert which is a CarolE King tribute performance in the Parish Center. Tickets are still available either at the Parish Office front desk or by going to sainthelen.org/kings.
Last year we started our G.A.I.M. (Gospel Alive in Me) Masses for students in grades 5-8. After the opening prayer of Mass, the children go to the chapel to discuss the scripture on their level. This year we are expanding our program from once per month to twice per month beginning on Sunday, October 1st. (This program occurs twice a month during our 12:00 Noon Sunday Mass.) A social for students and their parents will be held after the October 1st Mass. We created this program based on feedback we received from our students as well as our Synod Listening Sessions.
