Altar Servers

Altar service is one of the oldest ministries in the Church. Its focus is to help prepare for worship services by setting the altar table and lighting the candles. In spring and fall, the Parish recruits and trains new altar servers (generally boys and girls in Grade 3 and higher).

Children’s Liturgy of the Word

Children’s Liturgy of the Word for grades 1-4 takes place during the 10:00am Sunday Mass on most weekends- please see schedule. The Children’s Liturgy of the Word enriches the Liturgical experience of our children by providing an opportunity to listen to God speak to them through the Scriptures in the Children’s Lectionary, to reflect on the Word of God and to respond to God’s Word, relating it to their own life experiences. Volunteer ministers escort the children to the Chapel after the Presider calls them to the altar in the beginning of the Mass for our program. The children return to their parents after about twenty minutes before the gifts are brought up in the Mass.

We always need volunteers, if interested please contact

Extraordinary Ministers of the Eucharist

Parishioners are trained and commissioned to distribute the Eucharist at all Masses. They also bring the Eucharist to the homebound and the Nursing Home.

Hospitality Ministry

Serving our parish family is a privilege and an honor. Enhancing the Sunday Liturgy with intentional ministers who are welcoming, helpful and supportive to all is an essential role to fill at the Parish Community of Saint Helen.

If you would like more information about the Hospitality Ministry, please contact Gail Laughlin at [email protected] or Eileen Passananti at [email protected].

Kids Corner

Kids Corner is developmentally appropriate worship designed specifically for our young children during the 10:00 AM Mass. While parents attend Mass, Kids Corner provides an opportunity for children to learn about our Catholic faith. Children learn about the Mass, practice memory verses from scripture, sing songs of worship, pray together, and have FUN in a safe, Christ-centered environment.

Children age 2 attend Kids Corner Terrific Twos Worship, Kids Corner Preschool Worship is open to children ages 3-4, and Kindergarten children attend Kids Corner Kindergarten Worship.

Please reach out to Tracey Sowa, Kids Corner Coordinator, at [email protected] for more information on these programs.

Media Ministry

Our media ministers, including students, use their strong technology skills to enhance Mass and events by projecting song lyrics, prayers, videos, and other content using our Mac and ProPresenter software. Basic working knowledge of apps like PowerPoint or Prezi, as well as the ability to adjust on the fly to real-time changes in events or the liturgy, is extremely helpful.
