Msgr. Tom’s Weekly Note – 2/17/24

Lent began this past Wednesday, February 14, 2024. As we know, there are three pillars of Lent: prayer, fasting and almsgiving. Prayer can take so many forms. It can often be something very personal, but it can also be something we do together as a parish community.

Our parish offers numerous wonderful options. We have the Men’s Prayer Breakfast on Wednesday mornings from 6:00-7:00AM in Room 102 and 103. There is the Women’s Morning Prayer which meets on Wednesdays from 9:45AM-11:15AM in the Parish library. We have the 4Cs (Christ Centered Crochet Club) who will meet this month on February 25, 2024 from 11:40AM-1:00PM in Rooms 102 and 103. This Ministry is for those who knit or crochet articles that will be gifted to those in need, especially babies.

The Prayer Shawl Ministry will meet on March 4, 2024 from 9:30AM-11:00AM in the Library. The Prayer Shawl Ministry knit or crochet to make prayer shawls for those experiencing difficulties in their lives. The shawls are tangible signs of God’s comfort and peace and are a source of healing, hope and courage.

In addition to opportunities for meeting in person, we also have our “Making Disciples Podcast”. The podcast is for those who are active in their faith as well as those who are exploring their faith. The podcast is for anyone looking to deepen their faith.

Always remember that our church is open Monday through Friday from 8:30AM-5:00PM for private prayer and devotion where you can be with the Lord’s presence in the Blessed Sacrament. You can also pray the rosary or do the Stations of the Cross.

Our next Adoration will be on Sunday, March 24, 2024 (Palm Sunday) at 7:10PM, right after the 6:30 Sunday Mass, when our parish community comes together in the presence of the Blessed Sacrament to unite in prayer, music and quiet contemplation. You are encouraged to join this powerful moment of faith.

Prayer is one of the most wonderful ways to speak to God and develop a closer relationship Him. Let us use prayer as one of the ways to get closer to our Lord this Lenten season. Next Sunday is the first Sunday of Lent. Take time now to consider: “How will you make this the best Lent ever?”

God Bless You,

Msgr. Tom
