Beginning something new may be a big challenge, whether it’s exciting or it’s something that we have procrastinated about. The encouraging news about living a life of a good steward is that we’ve all already begun!

Parents are stewards of their family, giving of their time, their money, and their attention. Teens and children are stewards of their talents through their studies or exploring extracurricular activities. Young adults grow their gifts in a new work environment or through finding a faith community. Older adults spend their time differently than they used to. While they may enjoy themselves through new activities, they may also give even more of their “free time” to others in their family or community.

Through growing our gratitude – for our families, our career, our health, our faith – we can take the self-awareness of the distinct gifts and blessings God has bestowed on each of and use them for even greater good.

A good steward is constantly discerning – what am I grateful for and how can I do more?

As we approach Thanksgiving and Christmas, invitations for families to spend time together socializing at the parish will be publicized. Opportunities to help others in need through food baskets and gifts will be promoted. Awareness of our parish finances and ways to increase giving will be shared in our annual report.

Consider spending time alone reflecting on your blessings or sharing them in a family or friend discussion. In conversation with each other we can gain insight about how we will take our “good start” of stewardship and do more. By this, we say, “thank you” to God.
