Synod Listening Sessions

Synod Listening Sessions

What would you say to Pope Francis if you were to meet him?

He’s listening.

Pope Francis wants to know what your dreams are for the Catholic Church of the future.  Seriously.  He wants to know what you, personally, have to say.  He has put into motion all the energy of the Vatican and called upon the worldwide bishops to set up listening sessions to hear from all the People of God.  The method for this global conversation is a synod.

Pope Francis invites all the baptized around the world to journey together in a global listening process called “For a Synodal Church: Communion, Participation, and Mission.” This global process will provide guidance for the Church to discern “the signs of the times and interpret them in the light of the Gospel.”  (GS,4)

The invitation by Pope Francis to discuss what is important to the church of our time extends to everyone at our beloved Parish Community of St. Helen. In the listening sessions, we want to involve everyone, young and old, in every role and ministry, even those who are not active.

Synod Prayer

We stand before You, Holy Spirit, as we gather together in Your name.

With You alone to guide us, make Yourself at home in our hearts; Teach us the way we must go and how we are to pursue it.

We are weak and sinful; do not let us promote disorder.

Do not let ignorance lead us down the wrong path  nor partiality influence our actions.

Let us find in You our unity so that we may journey together to eternal life and not stray from the way of truth and what is right.

All this we ask of You, who are at work in every place and time, in the communion of the Father and the Son, forever and ever.
