Msgr. Tom’s Weekly Update – June 1, 2023

This past weekend we observed Memorial Day. It gives us the opportunity and privilege to remember, honor and pray for all veterans who served and gave their lives in sacrifice for us and for our nation while serving in the United States armed forces.

On Monday, May 29th, the Town of Westfield had our annual Memorial Day Parade beginning with the traditional ceremony at Memorial Plaza. I was honored to be doing the Opening Prayer.

The traditional ceremony to honor our fallen heroes began at 10:00AM. The Memorial Day parade then processed down East Broad Street to Fairview Cemetery where the annual Solemn Service was held. Let us and our hearts be filled with grateful joy for the life we live today because of the sacrifices of the many generations before us. Let us pray for the men and women who gave their lives for us.

During the month of May our parish collected items for the USO, a leading charitable organization for active service and military families who are waiting to be deployed. I thank Cathy Patla and Marilyn Ryan who helped organize the drive.

The recipients of our donations have given many years of their lives protecting us and our country and always express a deep and profound gratitude for the items donated. Thank you for all your donations.

God Bless You,

Msgr. Tom
