This past Friday, April 21 and Saturday, April 22, 132 of our young parishioners were confirmed in three celebrations of the Sacrament of Confirmation. Bishop Elias R. Lorenzo, O.S.B., Auxiliary Bishop of Newark and Regional Bishop of Union County, presided and conferred the Sacrament.
The candidates renewed their baptismal promises and received the outpouring of the Holy Spirit giving them the grace to practice their Catholic faith and to witness Christ in their daily life.
Our curriculum has featured discussions on the gifts and fruits of the Holy Spirit, their call to mission and ways they can continue the path of discipleship. The candidates attended class, completed community service and submitted a report on the service project they completed.
Their service projects included serving the community at Mercy House, The Community Food Bank, St. Joseph’s Social Service Center, and various other impactful community projects such as sandwich making for the homeless, helping special needs children participate in sports and social settings and raising money for various local charities.
Living a life of faith as a teenager is challenging in today’s world. Our candidates need continuous support and prayers of the faithful as they continue their journey of discipleship with the gifts and fruits of the Holy Spirit.
Congratulations to our newly confirmed.
