Msgr. Tom’s Weekly Message – January 4, 2023

The Christmas Season at Saint Helen has been a very joyful time so far. There are so many ministries and individuals to thank for making the Advent Season and Christmas so special, including the Christmas Eve and Christmas Day Masses: Sacristans, Lectors, Eucharistic Ministers, Musicians (band, choir, singers and instrumentalists, on Christmas Eve/Day and the extraordinary concert on December 16), Hospitality Ministers, Media Ministers, those who ran the Advent Wreath Making, Altar Servers, the Art & Environment Team, those who planned Breakfast with Santa and the trip to New York City.

Another special thank you goes to our parishioners who adopted 181 families and 201 individuals to provide with Christmas gifts as well as gift cards to help several families enjoy a Christmas meal. I know with certainty that you have made many families very happy this Christmas season. Thank you for your thoughtfulness and generosity.

An additional warm thank you goes to our parish staff who worked with our children, teens and adults in all the Advent and Christmas programing. It is so deeply appreciated as it truly takes a community to make this all happen.

This past Christmas weekend everyone who attended one of our Christmas Masses received Matthew Kelly’s most recent book called: “Holy Moments”. This book provides straightforward practical ways to collaborate with God for the rest of our lives. As we learn how to create “Holy Moments”, we will create a life full of meaning and purpose that God made especially or us individually.

“Holy Moments” is also the name of our Message Series for the month of January and the focus of our Small Group discussions this month.

Let us pray in a very special way for Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI, who died the morning of Saturday, December 31, 2022. Let us remember and pray for him, also a brilliant theologian and philosopher.Having left behind a rich legacy, may he rest in the peace of the eternal promise that he lived and proclaimed in his lifetime.

Wishing you and your families and friends a very happy and healthy new year filled with many blessings.

God Bless You,

Msgr. Tom
