January is often a time when we start new things and look toward the future; so, I felt it would be a wonderful time to update you on some of the things two Young Adults are doing. This past summer we welcomed Liz Greenop to our Parish Staff. Liz is working on her Masters Degree in Theology as a member of the Echo Graduate Service Program of the McGrath Institute for Church Life at Notre Dame University.
She is our Echo Apprentice participating in a two-year hands-on service-learning program that prepares tomorrow’s leaders in faith formation.
Liz has been active in our Youth Ministry and the Children’s Religious Education programing helping our young parishioners grow spiritually. She has also been working with Nicole Murphy and Liz Migneco in the creation of the Mental Health Ministry at Saint Helen beginning with the Sanctuary Program, offered through the Archdiocese of Newark.
Sanctuary is a resource for parishes and is designated to raise awareness for mental health and begin conversations about mental health through a Catholic lens.
Thank you, Liz, for all you are and do for our Parish Community!
We know that investing in and growing our Young Adults will help nurture the parish community and allow us to flourish moving forward. Next week I will share more about another young adult who we are supporting in her efforts in making a difference in the church.
God Bless,
Msgr. Tom
