Msgr. Tom’s Weekly Message – January 11, 2023

As we embark on a new year, I am continuously touched by the discussions I am hearing around Holy Moments which is both the Message Series for this month as well as the focus of our Small Group discussions. The main principle of Holy Moments encourages us to focus on the good we can do. In this crazy, busy world we live in, let us again pause and reflect on all that is good. There is a lot of good in the world. We do have a lot to be grateful for. Let us begin this year in a frame of joy and gratefulness.

Also, during this month let us pray that all human life is respected from conception through to our dying hour. Each January, the National Prayer Vigil for Life is a prayer vigil held on the eve of the “March for Life”. At this time, thousands of pilgrims from across the nation pray for greater respect for all human life.

I want to share the attached prayer. It is called “Every Life is Worth Living,” which reflects on the gift of human life.

Heavenly Father, thank you

for the precious gift of life.

Help us to cherish and protect

this gift, even in the midst of

fear, pain, and suffering.

Give us love for all people,

especially the most vulnerable and help us bear witness to the truth that every life is worth living.

Grant us the humility to accept help

when we are in need,

and teach us to be merciful to all.

Through our words and actions, may others encounter the outstretched hands of Your mercy.

We ask this through

Christ, our Lord.

Amen.

Throughout our lives, we are held in existence by God’s love. The presence of an illness, disability, or other challenging situation never diminishes the value of a human life. Christ invites us to embrace our own lives and the lives of others as true gifts.

God Bless you all,

Msgr. Tom
