The Children’s Liturgy of the Word (CLOW) is a program for children in grades 1-4 during the 10:00am Mass.
The Children’s Liturgy of the Word provides an opportunity for the children to listen to God speak to them through the Scriptures from the Children’s Lectionary. They can reflect on and respond to the Word of God by relating it to their own life experiences.
How do the children attend?
The Presider calls the children down to gather in front of the altar at the beginning of the Mass. Volunteer ministers escort the children into the Chapel for the program. The program is about 25 minutes long. The volunteer ministers lead the children back into the Church to return to their parents right before the gifts are brought to the altar. No registration is required for children to attend.
Volunteers:
There are three adult volunteer minister positions that run this program, along with three Peer Ministers. Adult volunteer ministers can serve as lead teachers, assistant teachers, and hall monitors. Commitment: We ask volunteers to sign up 1-2 times a month. The sign-up link is sent out to all volunteers over 18 a few times a month to check available dates.
Peer Ministers assist the adults with prayers and handouts for the children, they are assigned by our Director of Youth Ministry Patti Gardner.
