Art of Accompaniment

Overview

The word "accompaniment" has been made popular by Pope Francis but has been part of the Catholic Church since the beginning. The basic idea is to walk alongside another spiritually.

Below is a link to the recording from the panel discussion that was held at Saint Helen on May 9th.

We invite you to join us for four follow-up conversations on Accompaniment using the book "The Art of Accompaniment" by Bill Huebsch. We will supply you with a copy of the book. The purpose of these discussions is to discern together how we can accompany others whom we encounter both as a parish and individually.

If you are able to join us for all or some of the events please reply using the link below:
"In our world ordained ministers and other pastoral workers can make the fragrance of Christ's closeness and personal gaze. The Church will have to initiate everyone -- priests, religious and laity -- into this 'art of accompaniment' which teaches us to remove our sandals before the sacred ground of the other." (Pope Francis: The Joy of the Gospel, 169)
